Over 3,750 meals were served, and 1,500 food boxes were handed out to families in need! We couldn't have done it without the gifts of food, time, and money given by this community!
2009 Mission Golf Tournament Thank you to all of the golfers, volunteers, and guests who made this year's tournament on June 12th a success! We had a great time at Shadow Valley Golf Course, and Texas Roadhouse donated a delicious barbecue lunch! The tournament made over $40,000 to help the Mission with the new City Light Shelter conversion project to turn the Mission's warehouse into a 65-bed shelter for homeless women and kids! 2009 Ride for Rescue On May 30th, the Mission held the annual motorcycle Ride for Rescue! It was a great day, a great ride, and a lot of fun. Over 50 riders went from City Light Home for Women in Children all the way to Hot Springs Campground in Garden Valley! Thanks to all of the riders who participated, around $3,000 was raised to help the Mission with the new City Light Shelter conversion project to turn the Mission's warehouse into a 65-bed shelter for homeless women and kids! March to End Hunger On March 28th, the kids of City Light Home for Women and Children and several kids and volunteers from the community marched laps around City Light to raise money to fight hunger in Idaho! The March to End Hunger drive through March and April raised 26,426 lbs of canned food and $16,169! Thank you so much to Fred Meyer for their $10,000 donation and for hosting Mission food barrels! And thank you to everyone in the community who hosted a food drive for the Mission – the food you raised is helping to fill hungry tummies at the Mission’s dining rooms!
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2009 On January 19th, over 100 volunteers came to the Rescue Mission’s facilities to help out on this “National Day of Service”. Idaho’s National Day of Service Woman, Mrs. Georgia James, was honored at City Light Home for Women and Children, as they declared it Mrs. Georgia James Day, and presented her with a plaque in thanks for her lifetime of service in volunteering. Thank you so much to all of the volunteers who gave their time!
Christmas Celebration 2008 On December 17th in Nampa and the 20th in Boise, Boise Rescue Mission served thousands of hot Christmas dinners to hungry families and individuals. 2,540 children received toys for Christmas, and several hundred families took home food boxes full of healthy, good food for their own Christmas! It was a wonderful time of sharing and giving, and we want to thank all of the volunteers and donors who made these events possible!
Great Thanksgiving Banquet 2008 November 26th and 27th saw hundreds of families and individuals at the Mission’s doors, needing a hot Thanksgiving meal. With the help of this community, over 3,597 meals were provided, and 1,450 food boxes and 2,200 coats were given to those in need! Volunteers gave their time to serve at the Banquet itself and with food sorting, setup, cleanup and much more. Governor Butch Otter and First Lady Lori Otter came to the River of Life Mission on November 26th to help serve lunch, and John Duane and Chris Kelly broadcast right from the River! Thank you so much to everyone who helped to make the Banquet a huge success!
Tamale Build 2008 On November 8th, 36 volunteers gathered at the Hispanic Cultural Center in Nampa to make delicious pork tamales for the Mission’s Great Thanksgiving Banquet. Tamales with beans and rice are a traditional meal for many who will come to eat at the banquet, and thanks to these volunteers, we are able to offer them! Everyone had a great time, and over 4,650 tamales were made! Thank you so much to everyone who participated!
50th Anniversary Banquet On September 20th, the Mission celebrated 50 years of serving in the Treasure Valley! Over 400 special friends gathered to join the party, including several founding members of the board of directors and long-term supporters of the Mission. Dr. Vincent Kituku shared a message, and Larry Gebert was the MC! We had a great time, and thank you so much to everyone who came to the banquet, and to the volunteers and sponsors who made it possible!
Christmas in July 2008 On July 15th, the Boise Hawks and Texas Roadhouse held a great party to raise money for Boise Rescue Mission Ministries! The players served up lunch, signed autographs, and Santa Claus gave away toys and greeted excited kids. Thank you so much to the Boise Hawks, Texas Roadhouse, and Santa!
New Life Program Graduation 2008 On May 9th, 19 men and women graduated from the Mission’s 12-18 month drug and alcohol addiction recovery program. These individuals will now go on to find jobs, get further education, and succeed in life! They would like to thank all of the Mission supporters who made their recovery possible.
Ride For Rescue 2008 On May 31st the Mission held the annual motorcycle Ride for Rescue, and over 50 bikers rode from City Light to Hot Springs campground in Garden Valley to help raise money to feed the homeless! Thank you to all of the riders who participated in the Ride 4 Rescue, and to Albertsons SuperValu for providing food for the event!
J. Patrick Laney Memorial Golf Tournament 2008 June 13th we had the 6th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament out at Shadow Valley Golf Course. It was a beautiful day to be outdoors, and we had a great time. Lunch was generously donated by Carrabba’s Italian Grill, and was absolutely wonderful. Thank you to all of the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers who made this tournament happen!
Christmas Celebration 2007 At the Mission's Christmas parties in Boise on December 22nd and Nampa on the 19th, over 3,500 meals were served to those in need, over 1,000 food boxes were given to families, and almost 8,500 toys were given to kids. We couldn't have done it without your help – Thank You!
Great Thanksgiving Banquet The day before Thanksgiving, BRMM had the privilege of serving over 2,900 meals to our neighbors in need! We also provided over 1,000 food boxes to families, so they could prepare their own special meal on Thanksgiving Day! Thank you to everyone who volunteered or donated to make this happen.
Grand Opening of the New Kitchen at the River of Life, 2007 On October 27th, Boise Rescue Mission Ministries opened the brand new kitchen at the River of Life. With beautiful new fittings, a large work area, and lots of food storage, this new kitchen will be able to provide the hundreds of meals served daily at the River to homeless men, women, and children. Thank you to all whose gifts made this kitchen possible!
Grand Opening of the Next Step Transitional Housing in Nampa, 2007 September 22nd saw the grand opening of twelve brand new units of transitional housing in Nampa next to the Lighthouse Rescue Mission. These apartments were built with the help of several generous members of the community, and will be used to house graduates of the New Life Program while they work to get back on their feet. Thank you, Treasure Valley!
Ride for Rescue 2007 The Mission's Ride for Rescue annual motorcycle was on June 31st, and over thirty riders made the trip to beautiful Cathedral Pines Camp just north of Ketchum to support the Mission!
New Life Program Graduation 2007 One of the most exciting events of the year at BRMM! 13 men and women celebrated their completion of the New Life Drug and Alcohol Addiction Recovery Program. Friends of the Mission, family, and the Treasure Valley community celebrated with them as they shared stories of how God had changed their lives and their hope for the future.
