City Light Home for Women & Children

City Light Home for Women and Children was opened in 2000 to serve the needs of Boise's most vulnerable homeless. City Light offers free meals and emergency shelter to women and their children, as well as counseling and other assistance as needed. This building also houses the New Life Program for women, the Mission's twelve to eighteen month discipleship and addiction recovery program.

In 2007, six women graduated from the New Life Program, and are now working and making great lives for themselves and their children! City Light served over 65,000 meals and provided over 22,000 safe nights of shelter. There were many nights when the 35-bed dorm for emergency shelter was completely full and there were women sleeping on mattresses. The shelter can provide up to 65 beds, and all were full. No one is ever turned away from City Light – women and children in need can always come for safety, warmth, and help.

The graduates from the New Life Program at City Light have the option of moving into transitional housing apartments, where they can establish themselves in the working world, pay off any previous debts or fines, accumulate savings and remain in the positive environment and fellowship of the Mission's facilities.
