LIGHTHOUSE RESCUE MISSION GUEST SERVICES PROGRAMS

Lighthouse Rescue Mission
Emergency Shelter Services

Emergency services are more than food, clothing and shelter. Each guest that comes to the Mission will meet with staff and be given an assessment to find out what his needs are. The most important part of this assessment process is the spiritual health of the guest. Our first goal at the Lighthouse is to tell the guests of the relationship that will change their lives forever and that is a relationship with Jesus Christ. We feel that without this relationship these men don’t have much to look forward to. But with it they have great things to look forward to.

The assessment will also be a time to inquire of any physical needs they might have, needs which may be work, medical, mental, or educational related.

For those men who truly want a better life, the Mission has for them the LIFE TRANSITION PROGRAM

The goal of the LHRM Life Transition Program (LTP) is to provide our guest with an opportunity to improve their outlook on their future and to establish a stable and independent life apart from the LHRM.

Program overview

  • Lighthouse Rescue Mission Guest ServicesEach Life Transition Program (LTP) client will have his needs assessed. After this assessment, a course of action will be developed and implemented by the program case manager and client. Actions to be taken may include any of the following:
    • Job related skill improvements, which may include resume writing, interview skills, job search skills, and communication skills, can be addressed with a personal job coach who will bring improvement for each client’s career path.
    • Educational improvements which may include reading, writing, math, computer skills, and obtaining GED and/or other furthering education may be possible through the mission’s learning center as well as through other educational agencies.
    • Referrals to other agencies and requirements to interact with them may be necessary for increasing the success in achieving goals. Agencies may include but are not limited to the following: Idaho Department of Labor, Vocational Rehabilitation, Working Solutions, Social Security, and Veterans Administration.
    • Help with mental health which will include possible referral to one of our mental health partner agencies
    • Help with being free from drug and alcohol issues that the client may have.
All of the above actions increase the client’s ability to be more independent and secure on his own.
  • Becoming independent from the mission is the primary objective of each client who joins the LTP. The time frame required for obtaining housing will be based upon the initial assessment and the goals that are set. Goals set will be reachable and realistic within the time constraints, so it is the client’s responsibility to follow through with the set goals. If the client feels that he may have set too high a standard for himself, then he should talk with the Program Case Manager about altering the goals.
Transitional Housing Program

Lighthouse Rescue Mission Guest Services These supportive housing apartments will provide safe, clean, drug-free, affordable, Christ-centered living for Work Transition program men as they transition from supportive living to independence. Our goal is to see them succeed and one key to their success is accountability. We have a Transitional Housing Manager who will pop in to inspect rooms weekly and keep the men accountable. The Guest Services Director will also continue to meet with each man to evaluate progress.

After approximately 2 months clients may be eligible for transitional housing. All candidates for transitional housing must meet certain requirements. There will be a screening process as well as a personal evaluation given to all eligible clients.

The only candidates that will be considered for transitional housing are nicotine free clients. Clients must be nicotine free for two months before being allowed to go to the transitional apartments. Clients who move into those apartments will still be governed by any previous agreement regarding the Life Transition Program guidelines and they will also be required to comply with all transitional housing policies. All Transitional Apartment men will be required to pay a program fee whether they have a roommate or not.
