Samuel H. Parvin

Sam H. Parvin was born May 23, 1916 in Castle Rock, Washington to John Ray Parvin Sr. and Ida Nugent Parvin. He went peacefully to be with his Lord and beloved wife Beckie on September 26,2008 He spent the last six months of his life in the care and home of his daughter Margie in Winlock WA. Just twelve miles north of where he was born.

His early life was spent living in various communities in the Southern Washington in the area of Vancouver, Washington.

On June 4, 1938 he married Marjorie Rebecca Anderson in LaCenter, WA.

In 1940 Sam and Beckie went to Three Hills, Alberta Canada to attend Prairie Bible Institute. They were in Chapel when the Bombing of Pearl Harbor was announced. They remained in school until February 1942 when Sam's father died. They returned home and because of the war didn't return to school. In 1943 Sam enlisted in the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers, serving in the Pacific Theater, Solomon Islands, Philippines, and Japan.

After discharge from the Army, Sam attended Multnomah School of the Bible, Portland, OR, graduating in 1949.

In 1950 Sam and Beckie joined the Northwest Mountain Mission and moved the family to Cascade, Idaho where Sam pastored the Valley Bible Center. In the fall of 1951 the family moved to Emmett, Idaho for the winter. While there Sam worked in the local Chrysler dealership as a mechanic, taught Bible Classes in his home, and held Sunday School in Sand Hollow, near Caldwell.

In the spring of 1952 Sam and family then moved north to Glenwood, near Kamiah, Idaho. While at Glenwood, Sam "rode circuit", holding services in Glenwood each Sunday morning, and alternate Sunday afternoons to the communities of Lowell and to Golden and Elk City.

In 1953 Samuel left the Northwest Mountain Mission and moved to Parma, Idaho where he pastored a small church. While pastoring, Sam worked for the Parma Water Lifter Co., now the Parma Company, a farm equipment manufacturer. He had the position of Advertising Manager, and Printer. There he learned the printing trade, and upon his retirement, was one of the best lithographers (printers) in Idaho.

Leaving the church in Parma, Sam then associated with the American Sunday School Union, now known as American Missionary Fellowship, ministering to the Mexican migrant laborers in the Canyon County, Idaho area. He was instrumental in obtaining property and building the Spanish (Iglesia Evangelica) church in Wilder. He was with the Iglesia until 1968 and was known throughout the Treasure Valley and the "Valle" (South Texas) as "Grandpa".
